Introducing Our Interim Pastor

Pastor Paul began serving as Interim Pastor here at the United Church of Marion on November 9.

He grew up on a poultry farm in Western Pennsylvania, an eldest son with one brother and two sisters. Everyone had chores.

After graduating from Nyack College in Nyack, NY completed studies at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in S. Hamilton, MA. His first pastorate was in PA, but the majority of his pastoral ministry has been with churches in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

The past seven years he has served as interim pastor with American Baptist Churches in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont.

Pastor Paul is married to Patricia (Trish) and together they have six children scattered from Massachusetts to California to Florida. Periodically he loves to visit grandchildren in Florida.

In 2012 the Lord enabled the Smiths to buy a house in Hoosick Falls, NY, in the community where he had served First Baptist Church as an interim. This was especially helpful as Trish was recovering from treatment for cancer. It has provided a greater sense of security to have a home and a support group. Their house is just a few miles from Bennington, VT.

Pastor Paul has been doing some visitation and wishes to get acquainted with everyone. He is in town four days a week and is available for pastoral care. Please feel free to call him at the church office, 315-926-5501, or at his cell 814-596-3029.

We look forward to serving the Lord together during this interim time.

· Creative learning activities

· Memory verses

· Handouts for faith sharing at home.

Kid’s Quest is for children in grades K to 6. The children leave worship at 10:15 AM; returning for baptism and communion. They are encouraged to join the church family for refreshments following worship.

We are a people from many different backgrounds; united in the love of Jesus; on a spiritual journey of knowing God and being served by God; sent into God’s world for its healing.
